Haven't posted in forever.

Sorry about the lack of attention I am giving to this blog.
Here's basically a quick update as to what's been happening.
Not much.
I've been writing a few other songs, and one of them's almost finished. I've started experimenting with chromaticism.
Our drummer and guitarist are fully healed now. The only problem is that I'm taking four classes at college, so our band meets are infrequent.
Anyway, I'll update again soon.
Timothy.

YES!!

Hello again!
Before I tell you what happened I will tell you how it started.
I was in my room playing with chords on my guitar when I found some eerie, cool(as in cold) sounding notes. I played with the sound and order. Then I began to write. The song is called 'October Skies'. I wrote it like a classical composer would. I imagined the cold of October and the colors and the shapes of the clouds and things. Then I put the visions into music. I brought what I had figured out down to Tim and he found a hollow sounding piano piece. We put it together and now it is on TuxGuitar. And under construction. This song I think will not need many instruments.
I am very excited about the way it sounds. It sounds exactly the way I want it too!

New Instrument

Hello everyone! Still waiting for band meets to start back up again. Hopfully they will start soon. I got a new acoustic guitar, because my old one was... not great. The fretts were messed up and it wasn't made out of a good wood. But now I have a Walden. It's back and sides are Mahogany, the face is polished Spruce, and the frett board is Rosewood. So over all a really good guitar.
If anyone is looking for a place to get a good guitar, I suggest Music go round :)
Shannon went off to collage, so we have to notify her a few weeks before any band meet. Tomorrow Tim and I are going to the beach to visit Josh. He is doing much better. considering the accident was only a couple months ago. I have started High School, and Tim will continue his collage classes in a week. We will get the band together as soon as possible.
I know it doesn't seem like we are doing much, but Tim and I play the music we made together. So the two of us are working on it :) Thanks for waiting so long. Neither Tim or I have been posting much.

update...

Hello everyone.
The members of our band that were injured are getting way better. I have finished writing the intro to another song. Tim has been on a roll with his music writing. And school is almost here. I am hoping that we can have at least one band meet before school starts, but I do not know if that is possible. Since Timothy is going back to collage, and I am going to high school.
See ya'll later. We are going to visit Josh:)

Hello,
Sorry to keep you all waiting for a month and a week. We have not had a band meet for a while because two of our band members are injured. Ture broke his hand, and Josh got a concussion, broken collar bone, and a hernia :P So this summer we may not have much going on with the band.
Tim and I continue to write lyrics and music for them. Shannon is also writing lyrics and music.
Soon Tim and I are going to start cleaning out our basment so once our members are better, we can have a better place to practice our stuff, instead of the living room. :)
Tim has printed out tabs for one of his songs.
It may not seem like we have done a lot in the past month, but writing an entire song is not easy. Once the band members get better we will continue to have practice's as usual. But until then we, as individual members, have to work on the stuff that we have.
thank you for being so patient for us to post again,

Changes afoot

Hello everyone.
This is going to be a relatively short post, as I am incredibly exhausted right now, but there is some news that must be shared.
First off, we have decided to change our band name. Shannon, Banana, and I agree that our current name really doesn't go with our musical direction. I mean, we're pretty much power metal with a heavy piano sound. I don't think that Just Like You, as much as I like the name, really goes with us. Hopefully we'll figure out a new name soon. I already have a few ideas.
Secondly, on a happier note, I have actually written my first song from start to finish! Most of the ones I had before have been started, but never finished. This new one has just been finished. The first draft has, anyway. I still need to go over it to revise and perfect the sound.
Well, I'll update once we decide on a new band name.
See you!
Timothy

Covers!

Well, we're finally getting our show on the road.
We've started a cover of "Everdream" by Nightwish, as Banana mentioned in the last post. I've wanted to cover this song for a long time. And I'm doing the vocals!
We're also covering "My Immortal" by Evanescence. Shannon's doing the vocals for that one, and I'm doing the backing vocals.
We're also going to cover "Friday" by Rebecca Black (and we're going to make it awesome), and, if we have time, "Pardon Me" by Maxine Swaby. I want to make a metal cover of that, that would totally rock.
Anyway, that's all for now.
Until next time,
Timothy

Band Meet

Hi,
it's me, Banana.
Sunday we had another band meet. Shannon couldn't make it, but Josh, Chris, and Ture came. Ture is now our new guitarist. him and I will be switching off between rythym and lead guitar. You may be wondering what became of Josh. Josh is now our drummer. We are all very excited. Just Like You is currently working on a cover of 'Ever dream' by nightwish, and a song of our own, that Tim wrote.
Things are going better than I expected. Tim has written a lead and rythym guitar part to his song, we have a drum and base part. My favorite peice of the song is a piano part though.
Ture is an exelent guitarist, he took lessons from the same person I do.
I am currantly working on a guitar peice for some lyrics I have written, I already gave Tim the piano bit of it.
    From a very happy,
                        --Shannon :)

some lyrics I wrote

Hi all,
Banana here. I have pretty much gone on a lyric writing spree. I'm not going to post them, but one of the songs even I like. I am not a fan of most of my lyrics. other people like some of it though...like my brother Tim. I am currently writing some actual music to go with some of the lyrics.
so far I have a piano peice and part of a guitar peice.
I need to work more on the guitar peice, but I am pretty pleased with the piano. We will have another band meet soon. but mostly for the past few weeks we have been writing and rewriting.
see ya 'll later!

Hey Everyone!

Hey!
Sorry I haven't posted in a while. We haven't been having band meets as often because of school. But in two weeks school will be over, and then I'm hoping to have us meet regularly.

I've started writing a new song! The difference between this one and all the others is that I actually like the lyrics and feel like I'll enjoy singing them. That's a first!

Well anyway, I'll post some pictures of the band once we start having band rehearsals again.
Until next time,
Timothy

Finally, a Bassist!

Well, we found ourselves a bassist. As you can see, his name's Chris. He's from our church. We haven't gotten the chance to have him over for a band meet yet, but hopefully we'll be able to soon.
Now all we need is a drummer.
I haven't been able to write as much lately because of school, but I have a few ideas going.
I was actually thinking of postponing any further rehearsals until after my symester ends. Then I'll have much more time to dedicate to writing my music.
I have one song that is just about done. I just have to work out little kinks in the lyrics. As soon as I finish it, I'll probably post it on the blog.
I started a new one a while back. It's going to be very guitar-heavy with a few dissonant chords on the piano. It's probably my darkest-sounding song yet. I haven't gone particularly far with it yet, but I think that it's one of my better ones.

I also figured out how many rock singers manage to sing so high. They kind of combine yelling and singing. It's pretty cool actually. I tried it out the other day when no one was home (I don't like to sound like a dying animal with my family in the house), and figured out how to do it relatively quickly. The only thing is, I don't have all that much control with the notes above my normal singing range. Oh well. Nothing a little practice won't fix.

Well, hopefully we'll be up and running soon. I can't wait to get my music out to the population!
Until next time,
Timothy

Second rehearsal

Well, we had our second rehearsal yesterday. We didn't get all that much done, since Shannon couldn't make it. We did start working on one of Josh's songs, and we worked on Josh's guitar part for Arise.
It's not going all that smoothly yet, but it will be soon hopefully. My focus for the next rehearsal is to write some lead parts for Banana.
I also got inspiration for two new songs, one I already had piano for, and the other just came to me out of the blue. Strange how these things happen. The first one is probably the one I'm going to put vocals to first, and probably the first one of our songs I'll be posting.
I also had the bright idea that I should buy a Korg Kronos with 88 keys (the number of keys on a piano). It looked like a really good synthesizer. It couldn't cost more than $800, right.
Yeah.... Try $3,799. Unless I manage to win the lottery, I am not going to be able to afford that anytime soon.
Songwriting's hard, but hey, nothing worth doing is ever going to be easy. I just can't wait to get our music out into the world.
Until next time,
--Timothy

First Band Meet....

Well, JLY had its first official band meet today. Though we haven't found all of our members yet (a drummer and bassist are still needed), the rehearsal went pretty well.
We worked mainly on two songs that I wrote. For the first one, Fade (working title), I had almost half of the piano figured out, and almost all of the vocals. The lyrics are also pretty close to done. Shannon figured out a keyboard part for it, and Banana started working out a lead part. Banana and I taught Josh the Rhythm part I had written for the intro.
The second one, Arise (working title), went very well. I have almost the whole piano part worked out, and I have some of the guitar worked out already. Banana started working out a little bit of the lead, and I showed Josh some of the rhythm I had worked out.
Overall, it went very well for a first band meet. I'm hoping that we can work on some of Shannon's compositions next time.
Oh, and for all of you who know me, Banana is my sister. Now that we have two Shannons in our group, I refer to my sister as Banana.
Well, hopefully we will be rehearsing again next Sunday.
That's all for now!

The begginings of a band of four buddys....so far

hello, if you are reading this then, thank you for checking our band blog out.
today was our first band meet. we call ourselves Just Like You. that is our currant name, unless we find something cooler. our band consists of four people. all of us teenagers of course. My name is Banana or Shannon, I am the lead guitarist. then there is Josh, the rythym guitarist, (I was impressed, he can bar stuff.) my brother Tim is the keyboard\pianist. He is also doing vocals. Then there is my freind Shannon, it gets confusing having two shannon's in one band, but it's cool.
the other Shannon does vocals and keyboard\piano as well. Today we had our first band meet with all four of us. it went pretty well. the cool part was Tim and I have both written music, so we could show Josh and Shannon how to do our stuff. We enjoyed it, we practiced the intro to Tim's song and Tim and I played part of my song for 'em.
Now for the band we are looking for a drummer and a bassest. we have a possible drummer, but that's a maybe, we don't know if he will join us yet.
This blog will be posted on by all the band members. so you will get to know a little about us. We may post music that we like, and after we finish this song we're working on and get it patented we might post our music. ounce again thank you for checking this out!
P.S. Tell us what you think of our band name!
